Calling the Buffalo

Description: This is a scene showing 5 Plains Indians on horses. They have just remounted after piling rocks up and placing a buffalo skull on each pile. They believe these structures will attract the buffalo herd. Then the medicine man on the left raises his lance and begins "Calling the Buffalo". Allen first photographed the sculptures of each individual cast paper sculpture piece he created. The sculptures were accomplished in a variety of sizes over a period of time for many different original pieces.
